Wayland Academy is looking for an outstanding Assistant Head of Key Stage to help our students achieve even more.
The successful candidate will have an unshakable belief in every student’s entitlement to the highest quality education and ability to achieve and learn, whatever their personal circumstances. What You’ll Be Doing
- To provide pastoral and behavioural support and interventions for all pupils within the specified year group to maximise their achievements and attainment across the school.
- To work with Head of Year, tutors, and teaching staff to ensure that pupils are ready to learn and equipped appropriately for their learning.
- To support the work of the Head of Year and wider inclusion team to ensure that pupils attendance is improving and meeting expectations.
- Liaise effectively with the DSL to ensure that pupil safeguarding needs are addressed as required.
- To liaise with parents/carers, staff, pupils and other stakeholders as needed in a timely and professional manner in relation to all aspects of pupils’ pastoral care.
About You:
You will be a child-centred, resilient leader who balances pastoral care with high behavioural expectations. You should possess strong empathy, organisational skills for tracking attendance and data, and proactive communication abilities to support students, parents, and staff. You will be visible, approachable, and a firm but fair decision-maker.
Essential:
- GCSE English and Maths (or relevant level 3 qualification)
- Successful working relationships with all stakeholders, including pupils, staff, parents/carers and the wider community
- Ability to exercise considerable initiative as undertaking specified work that contributes to pupils’ learning and progress
- Ability to resolve more complex problems and/or queries, referring most complex issues to the teacher, or other member of staff
- Able to make decisions, identify and solve problems based on thorough analysis and sound judgement
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure
