Assistant Head of Learning for Sixth Form (Non-teaching support role) job summary

Would you like to work nine days but be paid for ten?

From September 2024, we have implemented a 9-day working fortnight for all permanent staff. The premise is simple, you will work nine days but be paid for ten, using the tenth day to ‘reset’, and thus giving you the opportunity to manage your work-life balance more effectively. You will also enjoy an additional Wellness Day.

Feedback from our current staff is unsurprisingly positive! The thought of coming back in September was less overwhelming and following their first day of reset, staff say they feel more relaxed, recharged and ready for whatever the next nine working days bring!

Could this make the difference you need?

Add to this a significant investment in your professional development and the possibility of onsite accommodation if you need to relocate, plus facilities that are second to none, including an excellent canteen, gym and coffee shop.

Does Highcrest sound like the school for you?

Take your career to the next level

As the only all ability academy in Buckinghamshire, we do whatever it takes to tackle disadvantage and provide an outstanding education to everyone. Our innovative curriculum is as diverse as our student community and is purpose-designed to release the potential of academic high-flyers and those with SEN alike. You can join us as you take your career to the next level.

Explore the opportunity

You will support the Head of Sixth Form in delivering exceptional pastoral and administrative support to our Sixth Form Students. You will be passionate about improving the outcomes for the students in our care and will be imaginative and resourceful in your approach. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues. No two days are the same, and a sense of humour, resilience and a positive attitude are essential. You will be able to provide support to all students, ranging from those with SEN to the most able. This will be achieved through combinations of the following:

Mentoring/coaching of pupils – helping the Head of Sixth Form to identify groups of students in need of more support, and working closely with them individually or in small groups to improve academic and personal outcomes

Monitoring Sixth Form Attendance – liaising with the Attendance Officer to monitor Sixth Form attendance to align with whole school targets.

Registration and supervision of study sessions within the Sixth Form Block and around the school

Management of resources within the Sixth Form Block

Confidence to liaise with external agencies where necessary

Co-ordination and delivery of interventions, keeping records of impact it has had on the students involved.

Experience of working with secondary school age children or young adults would be an advantage, as would an interest in psychology and mental health.
