Assistant Head of Year job summary

Term-time only + Training Days. Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and motivated Assistant Head of Year to join our pastoral team on a maternity cover basis and play a key role in supporting an identified year group. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring proactive practitioner who is passionate about making a real difference to young people’s lives by promoting positive behaviour strong engagement and student wellbeing.

Working closely with the Head of Year you will lead on pastoral support and coordinate targeted interventions to meet the needs of students within the year group. You will act as a first point of contact for students and parents and carers and work in close partnership with the Head of Year the Deputy Headteacher for Student Experience the Pastoral Leader and the wider student support teams to ensure high quality inclusive provision for all learners. A strong emphasis will be placed on monitoring behaviour patterns encouraging positive attitudes to learning and fostering a culture of engagement aspiration and belonging.

In addition Assistant Heads of Year will hold a specific area of focus or specialism that complements the wider pastoral team and creates opportunities to support students beyond their own year group.
