Assistant Head Teacher- Primary Phase job summary

Are you an inspirational and enthusiastic middle leader or senior leader looking for a new challenge? Do you have the teaching skills and personality required to motivate and energise pupils? Are you passionate about the Primary curriculum, teaching and learning whilst helping pupils to achieve their full potential?

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly organised and excellent Assistant Head Teacher to join our friendly and supportive Primary Phase, who will drive standards and pedagogy in Teaching and Learning across the Primary Phase and further develop our Cornerstones Curriculum. The successful candidate will be capable of inspiring pupils through their passion for teaching and learning, have outstanding pedagogical knowledge around a knowledge-rich curriculum and teaching and learning, and a desire to make a difference to pupil achievement. Due to Washwood Heath Academy being an All through Academy, there is potential to work with colleagues and pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4 to gain further subject specific development gain an understanding and be involved in how pupils develop and progress, and the skills needed on their transition into Key Stage 3.

  • To work in partnership with the Head of Academy and Head of Primary Phase as part of the Senior Leadership Team, in securing a high quality, knowledge-rich curriculum.
  • To contribute to raising standards of achievement and maximising student attainment.
  • To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth
  • Create an environment across the school where children are engaged and enjoying their curriculum.
  • Monitor, moderate and evaluate the curriculum, analysing Primary data.
  • Mentor and support colleagues through a solid understanding of the curriculum and good pedagogical practices.
  • Contribute towards the vision for the school and its development plan as part of the SLT as a key stage leader.
  • To be committed to the safeguarding of children.

KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

  • To work in partnership with the Head Teacher and Head of Primary Phase as part of the Senior Leadership Team, in securing a high quality knowledge-rich curriculum and outstanding teaching and learning. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • To fulfil the professional duties as specified in the Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.
  • To lead the strategic direction of teaching and learning.
  • To lead the curriculum
  • To lead a foundation subject as required.

Washwood Heath Academy is a relatively new All Through Academy (Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form) in the East of Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly developed Primary team and contribute to Primary Phase, which seeks to provide a first class education for all of its learners.
