What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and passionate leader to join a new, ambitious leadership team on our journey to take this school on the next stage of its journey. With a new Headteacher, we are entering an exciting era to provide the absolute best education for every student in our school and to ensure Looe Community Academy becomes, once again, a beacon of great practice and excellence.

Looe Community Academy is set in an area of outstanding beauty and is at the heart of the local community. We work closely with our community to develop and inspire young people to allow them to become ‘the best they can be.’ Our school community is built on the values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Kindness and these values are at the heart of everything we do, guiding our culture, relationships, and expectations. We are looking to recruit somebody who has the highest of expectations for young people and who can lead on a strategic level. This is an exciting opportunity and challenge for the successful candidate.

The school’s leadership team consists of the Headteacher, Deputy Head, two Assistant Heads and three Associate Leaders. Your role will be to lead the Behaviour and Pastoral system and to build an exemplary system that will underpin and support a new, developing curriculum. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be passionate about leading and developing others and committed to making a difference in the lives of all our students.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, committed, and passionate about improving the outcomes of our students. We welcome an application from you whether you are just starting your senior leadership career or have previous experience. You need to be committed to making a difference and passionate about leading and developing others and inspiring others to join us on our journey-especially key stakeholders like parents and families of the community. The role involves significant opportunities for working across the SMART Trust to collaborate with other schools within the Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a school where you can have real impact. If you have the passion and drive to develop and lead a strong Behaviour and Pastoral system as part of our journey of improvement, I would be delighted to receive your application

What the school offers its staff

We are a school dedicated to working with the local community to develop our students and allow them to reach the absolute potential and be fully prepared for adult life. Looe Community Academy is a school on the rise, and this role will allow you to become part of an exciting journey where relationships matter and together, we can build a brighter future for all our students. The community needs great leaders who are agents of social change and enable genuine social mobility for all. There is real moral purpose in this beautiful, small but dynamic school.

For example, we have recently redesigned out curriculum at Key Stage 3 to build greater social, cultural and community capital. We are bringing the learning to life in all subject areas through building greater connection to the local community and beyond; creating a sense of purpose and relevance at Key Stage 3. We now also need to strengthen the pastoral and behavioural curriculum that lies beneath the main curriculum to ensure that we establish disruption free learning in every classroom, teach and embed impactful character education and evolve a forward-thinking Pastoral Curriculum at the heart of the school where inclusion is lived and breathed. This is the exciting next stage of our development here at Looe Community Academy
