Assistant Headteacher (Behaviour and Inclusion) job summary
St James CE Primary School is a relationships-led, two form entry primary school in the heart of Northampton. Part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), we have a strong Christian ethos and commitment to inclusion. This role seeks an inspiring Assistant Headteacher to lead SEMH across the school - both as strategic lead for our specialist inclusion base (the PARC) and as behaviour lead in the mainstream school.
We are looking for:
- A leader who will continue to develop SEMH provision for children across the county by working closely with the Local Authority HARPS team and home schools to secure the best outcomes for pupils placed at to St James;
- A leader who will continue to develop and support the behaviour provision for all children at St James including leading on Emotion Coaching, regulation response plans and CPD for staff;
- A qualified SENCO (or someone who is prepared to undertake the SENCO qualification) with extensive experience of SEMH, trauma, and attachment in children;
- Someone who values nurture and understands how a nurture environment supports children’s development;
- An excellent teacher with experience of teaching in mainstream and/or specialist settings and who has high expectations of inclusion and children’s learning;
- Someone who supports the Christian ethos and inclusive nature of St James and who works to embed these values with children, staff, parents and the wider community;
- Someone who is reflective and continually seeks to improve their practice;
- A person who has excellent skills leading a team and who can inspire colleagues and children alike;
- A leader who understands our children and our community and who is able to build supportive relationships with peers and parents;
- An energetic individual who smiles often, challenges positively and drives change for the benefit of all.
