Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour job summary

Sir Frederick Gibberd College are looking for an Assistant Headteacher of Behaviour.

This strategic role involves working closely with staff, students, parents, and external agencies to embed the school’s values, support vulnerable students, and drive high standards across the academy. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will also oversee pastoral systems, line-manage Heads of Year, deliver staff training, and act as a visible, influential ambassador for the school and Trust.

You will play a central role in championing the values and ethos of both the school and the Trust, ensuring they are embedded within all behaviour strategies and practices. You will lead on behaviour, attendance, and inclusion, driving high standards across the academy to enable every student to thrive and achieve their full potential. Working closely with senior leaders, staff, students, parents, and external agencies, you will develop and implement a clear vision that promotes a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. This role demands a strategic and proactive approach, using data to inform interventions and continuously refine systems to support positive behaviour and high levels of engagement.

In addition to your leadership of behaviour and inclusion, you will contribute fully to the Senior Leadership Team, playing an active role in shaping the school's overall direction. Your work will involve close collaboration with safeguarding leads to embed compliance and ensure vulnerable students receive the support they need. As a visible and influential leader, you will model the highest expectations, contribute to whole-school events, and serve as a key ambassador for the school and Trust within the wider community. This role is vital to fostering a positive school culture built on mutual respect, equity, and high achievement for all.

In September 2021, the sixth form opened, expanding the provision of quality education for the young people of Harlow. At Sir Frederick Gibberd College, students are given every opportunity to achieve this- with a personalised curriculum, rich and innovative experiences outside of the classroom.
