Assistant Headteacher – Early Years Lead

The Board of Directors of the Holy Cross Catholic Multi Academy Company and the Governors of this thriving and successful Catholic school are looking to appoint an experienced, ambitious and exceptional leader with a proven track record of success as an Assistant Headteacher and Early Years Lead. We require an outstanding leader capable of inspiring, motivating and supporting pupils and staff to achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years Practitioner.

Main purpose of the job:

Take specific responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management and organisation of EYFS.

Be an excellent classroom practitioner, modelling effective teaching and learning in the EYFS.

Have an impact on educational progress beyond your assigned pupils – contributing to improved pupil outcomes and rapidly addressing any identified underperformance of pupils and vulnerable groups in EYFS.

Line manage and review the performance of identified staff (as directed by the head teacher).

Lead and contribute to the moderation of EYFS teacher assessment to ensure the robustness and accuracy of teacher assessment.

Support transition into Year 1, ensuring continuity and progression in learning.

As the school's Phonics Lead, they will oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of phonics across all year groups, ensuring consistency, progression, and fidelity to the chosen phonics scheme.

Always assist in the smooth running of the school, including being responsible with the other Senior Leaders and TLR holders for the school in the absence of the head teacher and deputy.

Be a proactive and effective member of the senior/middle leadership team, attend SLT meetings as appropriate.

In addition, they will contribute actively to the wider life of the school, supporting its Catholic ethos and mission.
