Breadsall Hill Top Primary School and Nursery is seeking to appoint a highly committed and inspirational Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to join our vibrant and nurturing school community. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to SEND and inclusive education, who is dedicated to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious and compassionate teacher or leader, with a clear vision for inclusion and a determination to remove barriers to learning. They will work collaboratively with staff, families, and external partners to ensure all pupils receive the support they require to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We welcome applications from candidates who:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status and have experience of teaching pupils with SEND
- Hold, or are willing to work towards, the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination (NASENCo) or the National Professional Qualification for SENCOs (NPQ SENCo) within 18 months of appointment
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners
- Possess a secure understanding of SEND legislation, including EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and provision mapping
- Have experience of leading, managing, and developing support staff effectively
- Have a proven ability to work collaboratively with parents, local authorities, and external agencies
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Are committed to championing inclusion for all pupils

Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school, ensuring that inclusive practice is consistently embedded and that all pupils receive high-quality, personalised support
- Support targeted teaching supporting pupils with a range of needs to make strong progress
- Lead and develop the SEND team, including teaching assistants and specialist staff, ensuring high standards of practice and effective intervention
- Undertake full SENCO responsibilities, including oversight of the SEND register, high-quality provision mapping, co-ordinating EHCP processes and Annual Reviews, and ensuring compliance with statutory SEND legislation.
- Work in close partnership with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to strengthen whole-school inclusive practice and improve outcomes for all pupils
- Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies, ensuring clear and effective communication
- Champion inclusion across the school, promoting a culture in which every pupil is respected, supported, and able to succeed
