Glemsford Primary Academy is looking to appoint the following role: Assistant Headteacher and SENCO

We are looking to appoint an exceptional leader to join our senior leadership time. The successful candidate would be give significant non-teaching time to carry out the role which would including being the SENCO. Depending on the experience of the candidate there is also the opportunity to lead the EYFS team and to be part of the safeguarding team.

The post holder will be required to:

- support the vision, ethos and policies of the school
- lead SEND across the school
- be a teaching role-model
- work co-operatively with parents to ensure they are well informed
- ensure all pupils receive appropriate support

Essential educational requirements

Second class degree or higher
English and Mathematics at G.C.S.E./’O’ Level or equivalent and/or sound Literacy and Numeracy skills (ITT accreditation test
ICT QTS accreditation test level or European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
Evidence of commitment to own professional development

Essential qualifications

Recognised QTS
Relevant SEN qualification or training

Essential skills and experience

Knowledge and experience of teaching relevant Key Stages
Excellent classroom teacher with a proven commitment to improving the quality of children’s learning
Knowledge and experience of School Development Planning and Curriculum Planning
Evidence of successful leadership of Maths, English, Science or SEN
Evidence of liaising collaboratively with colleagues
Experience and knowledge of managing challenging behaviour
Experience of monitoring teaching and learning
Understanding the importance of using data to raise standards
Evidence of successfully mentoring or providing general pastoral support to colleagues.
Commitment to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Ability to motivate and lead a team with sensitivity and energy
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with a wide range of people
Skill at managing change
Proven success in working with children across a range of age and ability.
