Location: Chesterton Primary School, Cirencester

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced leader to join our senior leadership team as Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and SENCo. This exciting role also includes the strategic leadership and operational management of our Communication and Interaction Centre (CIC), supporting pupils with complex communication and interaction needs, including autism. It also includes our nursery & EYFS setting for 2 -4 year olds.

As our new Assistant Head, you will be a visible, approachable leader who puts inclusion at the heart of school life. You will work closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure that all pupils—regardless of need or background—receive a high-quality, ambitious, and inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead SEND provision across the school in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Manage and develop the CIC, ensuring high-quality personalised support for pupils
- Champion inclusion, supporting staff in inclusive teaching and behaviour practices
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Line manage and coach staff within the inclusion and CIC team
- Work closely with external agencies and lead multi-agency reviews

We are looking for someone who

- Holds QTS and the National Award for SENCo (or is working towards it)
- Has proven leadership experience in primary education
- Has excellent knowledge of SEND legislation and effective inclusive practice
- Brings warmth, high expectations, and a commitment to teamwork
- Has experience working with pupils with autism or communication difficulties
