Assistant Headteacher - Pastoral job summary

Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral) - Bridge Learning Campus Secondary

Salary: L12-16, Full Time (£67,898 to £75,049)

Bridge Learning Campus is looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher - Pastoral to make a significant and strategic contribution to our continuing school improvement by removing barriers to school attendance and enabling all pupils to access our high-quality curriculum.

What are we looking for:

  • A strategic thinker, who can demonstrate how their leadership has improved outcomes for large groups of pupils, especially disadvantage and/or SEND pupils
  • An outstanding practitioner in the classroom - we expect you to be able to model best practice for colleagues, inspiring all to be the best teacher they can be
  • A focused motivator, who can set and realise high expectations of all pupils and of their colleagues, empowering them to build their own success

You will lead a team of pastoral leaders and our attendance team to show our pupils how much they matter, to motivate our pupils to contribute more widely to their school community and to enable them to be the best versions of themselves (especially those who find it harder to visualise their best future self).

Key Responsibilities

This is a key leadership role, working closely with staff, families, and external agencies to deliver high-quality support, drive urgent improvement, and ensure outstanding outcomes for all learners. The successful candidate will take a strategic lead on improving attendance and the associated necessary pastoral support. You will have the freedom and opportunity to make brave and bold decisions in the best interests of our pupils.

What We Offer

We offer:

  • Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
  • Paid induction and training suited to the role
  • Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free parking
  • Use of the Cycle Scheme
  • Paid completion of a DBS check
  • Flu vaccination
  • Free eye tests (where the employee is desk-based)
  • Where eligible, automatic enrolment to the relevant pension scheme
  • Honouring of continuous service earned in the Local Authority

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Visas cannot be sponsored.
If you're interested in teaching or training to teach in England as an international citizen, we can help you understand your next steps.
