We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher to join our fantastic team at Pear Tree High School.
This is a permanent, full time leadership role starting September 2025. This role also attracts a salary on the leadership scale, points L4-8 with a value of £53,602 - £59,167.
We’re looking for:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled professional Assistant Headteacher, this position will also encompass English Lead alongside other responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and creative English practitioner passionate about English/Literacy with a robust and practical knowledge of diverse teaching strategies tailored specifically for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to adapt and differentiate it effectively to meet the varying needs of SEND learners. This role requires someone who can exhibit outstanding classroom practice, marked by creativity, initiative, and strong organisational skills. A commitment to continuous professional development, along with the expertise and motivation to lead English are essential for this role.
Main purpose of the job:
In addition to those professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the school, the post holder’s key responsibilities will include:
- To be a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team and support the Headteacher to secure the best educational provision and the highest possible outcomes for students.
- To support the Headteacher in all aspects of school improvement, playing a strategic role in raising the standards of teaching, learning and student achievement together with the standards of attendance, behaviour and appearance of all students.
- To take full responsibility for leading and managing significant aspects of the school under the overall direction of the Headteacher.
- To be an effective role model in terms of own classroom practice, maintaining high levels of subject expertise and keeping abreast of current evidence informed teaching and learning development.
- To support the development of a broad, structured and coherent educational programme which clearly establishes the knowledge, skills and values that students will be taught.
- To make a substantial contribution to school improvement, successfully communicating and carefully implementing a range of improvement strategies which deliver sustained improvement over time.
