Lead with Purpose. Inspire Excellence. Champion Welfare.

Role: Assistant Headteacher (Full Time, Permanent)
Location: Robin Hood Academy, Hall Green, Birmingham

Are you a strategic thinker ready to shape the future of a school? At Robin Hood Academy, we are looking for an exceptional leader to join our Senior Leadership Team—someone who combines a fierce commitment to academic standards with the compassionate leadership our community deserves.

At Robin Hood Academy, we believe that postcode should never define potential. We are a vibrant, two-form entry school in Hall Green, where our mission is simple: to ensure every child leaves us with the knowledge, skills, and strength of character to enjoy a life of opportunity, choice and fulfilment.

The Leadership Opportunity

We are looking for a leader with a proven track record. You will be an experienced leader who can demonstrate whole-school impact, showing us not just how you run a classroom, but how you have elevated standards, coached staff, and improved outcomes across a wider cohort.

Your role in our culture:

Behaviour & Culture: We believe that children thrive on certainty. You will champion our behaviour culture, which relies on high expectations delivered with a fair, calm, and nurturing consistency. You will model a leadership style that is authoritative yet approachable, ensuring our school remains a safe haven where learning is disrupted by nothing.

Safeguarding at the Forefront: In our community, welfare is paramount. We require a leader who is ready to step up as part of our team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). Whether you are already qualified or willing to undertake the training immediately, you must be ready to join the safeguarding leadership team, making considered decisions to protect our children and supporting our whole school culture of safeguarding.

Curriculum & Standards: Using data to pinpoint gaps, you will lead interventions and teaching that ensure no child falls behind, particularly our disadvantaged pupils. You will also champion attendance, leading and implementing our whole school attendance strategy.

We are seeking a leader who:

Has Impact: Can evidence successful experience as a Phase or Subject Lead or existing SLT, with data to prove your influence on whole-school improvement.

Is a Safeguarding Champion: Is a current DSL or holds a deep commitment to becoming one, understanding that pupil safety is paramount.

Masters the Balance: Understands that "strict" means having clearly explained boundaries whilst "warm" means that believing in every child’s ability to meet them. You will uphold our values of Courage, Curiosity, Compassion, and Courtesy with unwavering consistency.

Is Evidence-Informed: Uses research and evidence to make strategic decisions about leading teaching, learning, attendance and behaviour.

Is Reflective: Wants to support others directly where needed, coach colleagues to improve, and is open to feedback and learning about their own practice.

Is Collaborative: Owns their areas of responsibility but leans into the team dynamic at every turn, seeking and giving support as the situation demands it."
