Assistant Headteacher (Science) - Chemistry Specialism

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher (Science), you will be a pivotal leader within UCS Bolton and the wider Trust. You will lead the science curriculum across Key Stages 3 to 5, with a specialism in Chemistry, inspiring pupils and staff alike to achieve excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and continuously developing a broad, balanced, and engaging science curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils
  • Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment through evidence-based approaches
  • Managing the provision for A-Level Science resits, ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to succeed
  • Supporting the school’s culture of professionalism, high expectations, excellent behaviour, and safeguarding
  • Acting as a mentor for early career teachers and contributing to whole-school leadership and strategy
  • Playing a key role in implementing the Trust’s values-led approach and strategic objectives

This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the learning journey of pupils aged 11 to 19 within a forward-thinking and supportive leadership team.

About you - The Ideal Candidate

You are an outstanding Science teacher and leader, ideally with a Chemistry specialism, who:

  • Demonstrates deep expertise in the National Curriculum and a passion for inspiring young scientists
  • Has a proven track record of improving pupil outcomes and raising the quality of teaching and learning
  • Is a confident, approachable leader who motivates and supports colleagues to grow professionally
  • Thinks strategically, using data and evidence to drive continuous improvement
  • Is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
  • Embodies the Trust’s values and is passionate about nurturing the potential of every pupil
