Assistant Headteacher: SEND, Inclusion, EAL and PSHE job summary
“We
put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we
do”.
North Walsham High School, part of the Enrich Learning Trust, is a small secondary school in Norfolk. We are a rapidly improving school that has a strong community of dedicated staff who live out our vision and put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we do. This is underpinned by our core values of Trust, Resilience, Excellence and Kindness.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational full time Assistant Headteacher: SEND, Inclusion, EAL and PSHE to help continue the rapid improvement of the school.
The successful applicant will:
- Be the SENCO for the Academy and provide strong and effective leadership for the continued sustained improvement of SEND provision
- To direct all staff to ensure no pupil gets left behind, through appropriate identification, determination and delivery of strategy, support and intervention.
- To determine, deliver and quality assure the work of the Lead Teacher for intervention and the Leader Teacher for Complex Needs and LAC to ensure it successfully meets the needs of the students
- To deliver strategies that ensure an inclusive environment where all students are able to be happy and successful.
- To determine, lead the delivery and report on an impactful PSHE programme that supports all students.
- To determine, grow, manage and evaluate successful alternative provision for students meeting their needs where mainstream schooling is no longer appropriate.
- Take an active part in CPD which includes regular and deliberate practice.
For me as a Headteacher this is one of the most important appointments the Academy will make. The right appointment will help deliver continued and sustained improvement particularly for students with SEND. The role has no curriculum teaching commitment and would work strategically to consider the development of alternative provision.
Professional development opportunities are plentiful and we are always working hard to be innovative around workload- we want you to have a balanced life and enjoy working with our children! We have really strong supportive policies on feedback, reporting and behaviour for learning (including centralised detentions).
Alongside this we have a clear approach to teaching and learning which is supported by our Instructional Coaching programme. This is captured in the north Walsham Approach to Teaching.
For an informal discussion contact Mr James Gosden (gosdenj@nwhs.uk). We encourage visits to the school prior to application
Enrich Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all those working at the Trust to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
