What skills and experience we're looking for

Shaw-cum-Donnington CE Primary school is a successful and continually evolving primary school in a semi-rural setting on the northern edge of Newbury. We are looking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational practitioner with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team as assistant headteacher.

The successful candidate will have class teacher responsibilities; take a leading role in the monitoring and evaluation of standards across the whole school and to be a leading professional actively promoting effective teaching and learning practices.

  • Have high expectations of children’s learning and behaviour.
  • Have the ability to lead, manage, motivate both children and colleagues.
  • Have proven ability in raising standards.
  • Be committed to continuous school improvement and self-evaluation.
  • Have a responsibility for leading areas of the curriculum.
  • Be creative, flexible and able to problem solve.
  • Possess energy, tenacity and be able to play a positive and active role within our dedicated team.
  • Uphold and promote the ethos and character of the school
