Assistant Headteacher T&L job summary
Bridge Learning Campus is a popular all-through academy in South Bristol, oversubscribed in almost all year groups from Reception to Year 11. You will take on and shape this new dedicated responsibility at our school, joining an established team who work hard together to transform the life opportunities for our pupils.
Responsible to: Deputy Headteacher (QofEd - Secondary)
Responsible for: Heads of Department, Reading Leadership, EAL coordinator, STEM T&L coordinator
Job Purpose: Under the guidance of the Deputy Headteachers and working alongside the Assistant Headteachers, maximise the standards of teaching across the campus. This will be achieved through the design and delivery of effective CPD, mentoring, coaching, training and support for all teaching staff, including initial teacher trainees and early career teachers, ensuring that teachers’ development is aligned with the campus’ strategic priorities.
- Strategic leadership of teaching and learning across the campus, but particularly in the secondary phase, through regular participation in meetings of the T&L team.
- To support the Deputy Headteachers to monitor and evaluate the standards of teaching and learning across the campus.
- Instil and embed a culture of reading throughout the secondary phase, founded on explicit daily opportunities for reading and enriched by wider strategies that celebrate the value of reading.
- Ensure the culture for reading is embedded through the introduction of formal practices as well as informal practice
- Establish a coherent strategy to develop and implement a strategy for the teaching and acquisition of high quality vocabulary.

Fluency Duty
The ability to converse at ease with pupils, parents and other users of the service and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
