What skills and experience we're looking for
The Priory Lincoln Academy are looking to appoint a dynamic and passionate senior leader to play a leading role in our journey to become an inspirational learning community. The successful candidate will need to be a visible leader who has a track record of school improvement within a senior leadership team or as a senior middle leader. All members of Priory Lincoln SLT embody the academy motto of Achieving Individual Excellence Together.
The role of leading on Teaching and Learning is one which will have significant impact on the academy. As Assistant Headteacher, you will drive the positive culture and work closely with colleagues with responsibility for teaching and learning and curriculum in order to create the environment in which young people can thrive and achieve individual excellence. Alongside this will sit other responsibilities within the Curriculum and Standards remit. Priory Lincoln has outstanding facilities and buildings and is on an ambitious journey of improvement and the role provides the successful candidate with an opportunity which will be career defining.
The role plays a key part in academy development journey and has the opportunity to work with senior colleagues across the Trust. The Priory Federation of Academies invests heavily in the development of staff and the opportunity to contribute and develop at a Trust level is significant. As part of the Priory Sixth Form in Lincoln, our campus is a Technical Centre of Excellence with a focus on Technical education across the sectors of Education, Construction, Digital, Science, Sport, Catering and Auto Motive Engineering.
Priory Lincoln’s curriculum provides a coherent knowledge base which is well structured and sequenced, and has knowledge, literacy and creativity at its’ core. We are committed to the Great Teaching Model and all staff have access to the Great Teaching Toolkit. We invest in our teachers and the Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning will have the scope to work with the Deputy Headteacher: Curriculum and Standards in order to develop world class teaching at Priory Lincoln. Our ambition is nothing less.
There will be the responsibility in the wider Senior Leadership Team to ensure that all students are supported pastorally and academically to Achieve Individual Excellence and to play a significant role in ensuring that our learning community works Together. We have a culture which is fiercely ambitious and the successful candidate will need the tenacity and resilience to facilitate whole school cultural change. As a professional you will require the emotional intelligence to manage change sensitively, but also the robust strength of character to challenge those whose fail to meet our high expectations. We educate the whole child and have the belief that it is our role to open the eyes of students to the opportunities which they had previously not perceived to be possible.
The Priory Federation of Academies Trust will provide outstanding support, whilst allowing the academy the autonomy to make both operational and strategic decisions for our learning community. There will be excellent professional development opportunities and the chance to work with colleagues from six secondary academies as well as six primary and one specialist setting.
