What skills and experience we're looking for

A rare and unique opportunity has arisen for an outstanding candidate to join our existing Senior Leadership Team.

We welcome applications from qualified SENCos as well as experienced teachers or leaders who are aspiring to train as a SENCo. Appropriate support and professional development will be provided.

Working with the Head of School and also alongside the wider leadership team, the successful candidate will be based at Ruskin Juniors as Assistant Headteacher, with responsibility for raising standards in teaching and learning and ensuring consistency across all year groups.

The SENDCo role spans both the Infant and Junior schools, leading inclusion to secure high-quality provision, strong pastoral care, effective safeguarding and positive behaviour, so that all pupils achieve their best.

For candidates not yet qualified, this role offers the opportunity to undertake SENDCo training alongside the post.

We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher who is:

  • Able to lead, motivate, challenge and inspire whole school communities

  • Committed to achieving the highest possible standards of learning and teaching

  • Dynamic and enthusiastic with the vision and energy to help lead schools to excellence

  • Friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching

  • Experienced in school improvement with a proven track record of success and strong leadership in developing some aspect of teaching and learning.

  • A qualified SENDCo, or willing to undertake the National Award for SEN Co-ordination.
