Full time: 35 Hours per Week (Term Time plus 2 days) 8.20am – 4.00pm (Monday–Wednesday), 8.20am – 4.30pm (Thursday), & 8.20am – 3.30pm (Friday) (40-minute unpaid lunch break each day)

Additional allowances

What skills and experience we're looking for

Experience of working, or volunteering with young people

Experience of working, supervising and/or supporting with children in a secondary school or other similar setting

Strong GCSE in English and mathematics at grades C or 4 and above, including additional strong GCSE and/or A Level passes (or equivalent) in other subject areas

Strong literacy and numeracy skills/qualifications

Consistent high expectations which motivate and challenge students

Adaptable in day-to-day working practice

Ability to communicate strongly and confidently in oral and written format with students and other staff

Effective classroom and behaviour management skills to promote a consistent and positive culture of high expectation and standards

Highly organised, with great attention to detail

Able to organise and prioritise workload and meet predetermined deadlines

Able to interact with and motivate students whilst demonstrating an understanding of their needs and competences.

Awareness of the requirements of children with additional and special educational needs and of suitable support strategies

Able to accept and promote new ideas

Good 1-1 and small group engagement skills

Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

A proven ability to work with external agencies within safeguarding and welfare principles

Ability to work with adults/parents where challenge exists

The Assistant Pastoral Manager is a member of the school Pastoral Team and is responsible for aiding the Pastoral Team and Heads of Year to ensure that all students are happy and successful at Stockport School.

The Assistant Pastoral Manager will work with the Pastoral Team and assigned Head/s of Year to ensure that each student:

  • Achieves their academic potential
  • Has good attendance and punctuality
  • Has high standards of personal behaviour, uniform and appearance
  • Is supported in relation to any personal barriers which could limit their success
  • Is protected in situations where other students fail to uphold the school standards
  • Follows the ‘Stockport School Way’ and adheres to our PROUD school and community values
