As Assistant Principal, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the academy’s leadership in preparation for Deputy Headship and beyond. Working alongside the Principal in this first year you will have the exciting responsibility of leading Maths and Assessment across the school. This is a class-based Year 6 role but with a day a week release time additional to PPA to enable you to fulfil your leadership responsibilities.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will be centrally involved in the overall leadership and management of the academy and will help to develop a school culture that is both nurturing and rigorous.
We are looking for a highly motivated, capable, resilient and reflective leader to work alongside our Principal, playing a leading role for Ark Byron. The new leader will enter a well-established and high-achieving school with much to be proud of and celebrate, and with greater things to come.

• Be a great teacher themselves. As a leader of teaching, we are looking for someone who really knows what great learning looks like in the classroom and how to achieve it particularly in KS2
• Have a proven track record of achieving high outcomes in KS2 in particular
• Be fully aligned with Ark’s values and six pillars
• Be excited by, and committed to, supporting practices that will drive great progress across the wider network of Ark schools

Joining Ark Byron is an exciting opportunity to help develop a relatively young school, which has had its first Year 6 this year and embark on a rewarding career path within the Ark Multi-Academy Trust. We are based in a new, purpose-built building in a fantastic park setting on the edge of Acton Park, with views of trees from every room. We make use of this unique resource through integrating outdoor learning into our curriculum.

Ark Byron Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school that opened in September 2015 and currently has 420 pupils across seven year groups from Reception to Year 6.
Our motto, “Courage to reach for the sky!” reflects Ark Byron’s high expectations for every child. By aiming high and setting ambitious goals, we believe that pupils will be able to reach their full potential, though this will require real effort and persistence. Ark Byron Primary Academy opened its doors in September 2015. The school is not selective nor fee paying and welcomes pupils from all backgrounds. As of September 2021, it now has a full seven year groups, ranging from Reception to Year 6 and a total of 420 pupils. At Ark Byron, we are committed to providing the best possible education and experience, whilst also expecting the highest standards, from staff, pupils and parents.
Our mission is to set the foundations and preparation for university or a career of choice, to provide pupils with real life choices and enhance their opportunities. We believe in high academic standards but learning at Ark Byron is not simply about academic achievement. We want to develop the whole child to have caring, considerate pupils with a love of learning.
