Assistant Principal- Behaviour & Culture job summary

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal to help drive our ongoing journey toward sustained excellence. You will be a highly motivated and passionate individual, committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. With a natural ability to inspire and engage both students and colleagues, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Ormiston Bridge Academy.

As an outstanding teacher and experienced leader, you will bring a proven track record of impactful leadership. You will contribute significantly to the continued success and strategic direction of the Academy.

Your role will involve helping to build a strong, effective learning community with a clear focus on maintaining high academic and pastoral standards. These priorities will be underpinned by a deep commitment to inclusive education, ensuring every student can develop the skills, character, and confidence to thrive as well-rounded, respectful individuals.

You will also support the development and implementation of strategies that position Ormiston Bridge Academy as a beacon of educational excellence, both locally and nationally.Located in Fulham, Ormiston Bridge Academy provides a caring environment based on integrity, mutual respect, and understanding. It seeks to reignite passion in education and aspiration. Each learner is treated as an individual and is supported to develop within an environment that develops a love of learning and the ability to create social and emotional skills fit for the world outside of education.

The main provision at Bridge is for secondary learners, but we have primary provision on site, along with a managed intervention centre and outreach service. Our learners are at risk of, or have been excluded from mainstream settings. We serve the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. We believe that success for our young people comes because of our specialist approach; we are interested in activities that develop all young people’s capabilities; their potential for employability; their ability to have successful healthy relationships; their ability to make safe life choices, enhancing their quality of life and the realisation of their aspirations.

Our approach considers our young people’s education experiences to date, their social-emotional health, their mental health, their family situation and experiences, and their special educational needs (SEN). We work closely with professionals, families, and other practitioners to affect change in our young people’s lives, ensuring our work is holistic and therefore creates success by any means for all our children. We are proud of the work that we do, and the environment of our school is caring supportive, and inclusive. We believe that through this approach we support our children, enhancing their quality of life and promoting the realisation of their aspirations.

Our key values are:

  • Anyone can excel: you don’t have to be exceptionally bright or naturally gifted in order to excel at something. We know hard work, determination and perseverance pay off.
  • Enjoy the challenge: just because something might be hard, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. We know it’s okay to face setbacks too – they can make you stronger.
  • Share what is best: if you’ve done something or created something others would benefit from seeing or having, you should share it. We know our schools keep getting better when we all share what is best.
  • Be inclusive: every child and adult should respect and accept that difference is normal, that everyone should be welcomed and included.

“Pupils enjoy coming to Ormiston Bridge. Staff work closely with pupils. They find out about their needs and the barriers to learning they may have had at their previous schools. Pupils said that they know the staff cares about them and their well-being.”
