What skills and experience we're looking for
Essential
• A good degree in your subject area • Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or equivalent • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • An excellent classroom practitioner that can model best practice • Excellent organisational and personal management skills • Effective behaviour/classroom management • Ability to demand high standards • Up to date knowledge of educational theory and practice in relevant key stage(s) • Strong understanding of guidelines on safeguarding • Experience of leadership • Experience of project management • Able to work to tight deadlines • Able to be innovative and progressive • Able to lead and work effectively with teams • Strong understanding of using data to assess and inform teaching and learning and targeting
appropriate intervention • Experience of dynamic and successful team leadership at middle leader/senior leader level • Experience of leading and implementing strategies which have ensured high standards of student
achievement • Experience of teaching intervention groups at relevant key stage(s) • Ability to work independently and be a team player • Ability to develop and support other staff to develop a variety of teaching strategies • Ability to enthuse and direct students and staff towards raising expectations and levels of achievement • Understanding of self-evaluation • Strong ICT skills • Commitment to both self and team development • Able to make difficult decisions and relay these effectively Desirable
• Leadership / Management qualification / training (e.g., NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH) • Understanding of ‘The Deeps’ • Experience of carrying out management investigations • Comprehensive knowledge of performance management requirements in an education setting • Experience of leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of other staff • A track record of examination success in more than one school
What the school offers its staff
As an Assistant Principal, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team of the academy, working within the ‘Deeps’ as assigned by the Principal. You will proactively support the Principal / Vice Principal / AAB members to ensure that the leadership and management of the academy runs at the most effective level possible
