Assistant Principal job summary

The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school, promoting our SPELL approach and contributing to ongoing curriculum refinements. They will work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure that every child receives a bespoke and appropriate learning offer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge and understanding of how to support children learning at an engagement level.
  • Leading and supporting high-quality practice within the early years.
  • Model and promote a clear understanding of communication, sensory integration and co-regulation to support children with autism and complex needs.
  • Building positive, professional relationships with children, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying and supporting training and development needs of staff
  • Working as part of the senior leadership team to identify school improvement priorities.
  • Leading and implementing change, and evaluating its impact effectively.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Positive, resilient, and inspiring in their approach.
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced in both Early Years practice and the use of the Engagement Framework with children with autism and/or complex needs.
  • Reflective, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Able to motivate and support colleagues.
