West SILC is a very successful, popular, all age generic special school that puts children at the heart of all the decisions we make. We work hard to meet all SEND needs which includes PMLD, moderate or severe learning difficulties, Autism, physical disabilities, and social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) to name but a few. Our pupils are grouped according to their needs, to ensure their curriculum is truly appropriate and specialised. Achievement ranges from working within the Engagement model through Pre-Key Standards to Entry level and GCSE / level 2 functional skills. Pupils attend 5 sites, which includes specialist sites and partnership provision in local primary and secondary schools. In addition, we are also responsible for the secondary alternative provision for the West high schools in Leeds. Much of our provision is exemplary including our innovative 6th form provision, based in Farsley, which must be seen to be believed.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Principal SENCO - someone who will promote a culture of excellence by providing leadership capacity to enhance the strategic direction, vision and operational management at West SILC. Providing specialist expertise and highly visible leadership, our ideal candidate will contribute to securing and driving forward the educational experience and will present as an outward facing professional within the school, ensuring that the vision and priorities are clearly articulated, shared and translated into agreed objectives and operational plans which permeate all aspects of school life and promote and sustain school improvement.

Please note you do not have hold the National SENCO qualification to take up this role in specialist provision, however we would like the successful candidate to complete the NPQ SENCO (if appropriate) within two years of appointment.
