About the Role
Heworth Grange School, part of Consilium Academies, is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Principal - SENDCO to play a pivotal role in our next phase of school improvement.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a values-driven leader with a strong moral purpose to shape inclusive practice, champion SEND and disadvantaged learners, and contribute strategically at senior leadership level. The successful candidate will combine outstanding SEND expertise with the ability to lead people, systems and culture to ensure every child receives the education they deserve.
As SENDCO, you will provide strategic leadership for SEND, inclusion and Pupil Premium, while also contributing to whole-school leadership, teaching and learning, and staff development.

The Assistant Principal - SENDCO will:
- Provide strategic leadership for SEND, inclusion and Pupil Premium across the school
- Coordinate high-quality provision for pupils with SEND and additional needs
- Lead and develop inclusive teaching and learning strategies
- Use data effectively to monitor progress, remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes
- Work closely with parents, external agencies and Trust colleagues
- Contribute to Trust-wide leadership strategy and whole-school improvement
- Promote a positive, child-centred culture aligned with the school’s values and ethos
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong track record of high-quality teaching
- Significant experience of SEND and inclusion leadership
- A recognised SEND qualification (or willingness to complete)
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills
- A strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and equity
- The ability to inspire, support and challenge staff and students
