Our Senior Leadership Team is Growing
Due to an exciting promotion from within our current SLT, an opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Leadership Team at Stratton School as an Assistant Principal from September. This is a key leadership role for an ambitious and committed practitioner who is eager to play a strategic part in shaping the future direction of the school and making a lasting impact on students, staff, and the wider community.
The Assistant Principal for Student Wellbeing, Inclusion and Future Pathways will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of key areas that support students’ personal development, safeguarding, inclusion, and post‑16 readiness. The postholder will be a central member of the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that all students are safe, supported, and able to achieve positive future outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Act as the Named Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) with strategic oversight of all safeguarding arrangements.
- Line manage two non‑teaching Deputy DSLs and oversee the wider safeguarding pastoral team.
- Ensure safeguarding systems, training, and culture are robust, compliant, and effective.
- Lead Staff compliance training
Inclusion and Disadvantage
- Provide strategic oversight of Disadvantage and Barriers to Learning, including leadership of Pupil Premium provision.
- Monitor impact, evaluate strategies, and ensure targeted support improves outcomes for disadvantaged students.
Student Wellbeing and Personal Development
- Lead on PSHE/RSE strategy and curriculum oversight, ensuring statutory compliance and high‑quality delivery.
- Promote a strong culture of wellbeing, inclusion, and student voice across the school.
Careers and Future Pathways
- Provide strategic leadership of Careers Education and Future Ambitions, line managing the non‑teaching Careers Lead.
- Ensure high‑quality careers guidance, employer engagement, and post‑16/18 pathways in line with Gatsby Benchmarks.
Looked After and Previously Looked After Children
- Hold responsibility as Designated Teacher for Looked After Children (LAC).
- Champion the needs of vulnerable students and ensure effective multi‑agency working.
EAL Provision
- Oversee English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision, ensuring effective identification, support, and progress for EAL learners.

The Ideal Candidate
- Successful teaching experience in an age 3 to 19 environment
- Commitment to and evidence of continuous improvement and one’s own professional development.
- Excellent track record of pupil outcomes and leading a successful department/team.
- Be a team player, with a ‘can do’ solution focused attitude.
- Possess outstanding communication skills and personal integrity.
- Successfully and effectively use comparative data (Including EFL or similar) for benchmarking target setting and monitoring to improve pupil outcomes.
- Understanding and significant experience of the work of external agencies.
- The interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, pupils, parents and others.
