Beacon Academy is recruiting an Assistant Principal to join our remodeled leadership team with a specific remit to develop the quality of teaching and learning in the school. You will work closely with the Principal, Vice Principal and SENCO on creating systems, structure and routines that result in high quality teaching and learning across the Academy. Once in place, you would be part of the quality assurance team to ensure practice is strong and to support the development of others.

There is much to do, but you would be well supported. The successful applicant will be supported by being part of a quality of education team within the SLT and by a Trust wide network along with the opportunity to visit and work with other schools to witness best practice and use that experience to develop others at Beacon Academy.

This post would be an excellent opportunity for both someone currently in a leadership team or for someone who is ready to be part of the wider school Leadership Team and part of Beacon Academy’s drive for improvement.

We are a small school and so it is possible to develop strong relationships. To support this we have introduced a new coaching group approach for staff and students in September. Our students are enthusiastic and enjoy interactive lessons from passionate teachers, they respond well to strong trusting relationships with staff. Having recently appointed new leaders at the academy, Beacon has a renewed focus on student development, both academically and in personal growth. We are about to embark on new and innovative strategies in school so this would be an exciting time to join the team.

We encourage any applicant to come and visit the school or to book an informal phone conversation about this role with an appropriate member of the leadership team. Please feel free to contact the PA to the Principal, Olivia Sakseide on hr@beaconacademy.co.uk to arrange a suitable time.

If you are as excited by this challenge, as we are, and you think this might be the role for you, please apply by following the link below, having taken note of the attachments, by 9.00am on Friday 10th October 2025. We would expect interviews to take place during the following week.

The School has adopted the principles of Safer Recruitment and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to do the same. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Beacon Academy is an Equal Opportunities Employer.

Beacon Academy opened on 1 September 2017 as part of the Wellspring Academy Trust. We are an exciting, expanding, inclusive and dynamic secondary academy which places the student at the heart of our provision.

Our distinctive ethos of ‘Human Scale Education’ sets us apart from other schools. At Beacon Academy your child will be known as an individual, supported and provided with opportunities to achieve academically and to develop as a young person.

Within our distinctive ethos we provide your child with opportunities, interventions and watch them thrive. We will continue to build upon solid foundations as an academy rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED. Regional champions in sports, poetry, photography and performing arts are just some examples of how your child will develop those crucial ‘soft skills’ needed to flourish in an ever changing world.

Parents are choosing Beacon Academy with the knowledge that not only is their child known as an individual and supported but academic progress is also at the heart of our provision.

Ultimately our students will leave as fully rounded young people, who in addition to their qualifications and references can present portfolios evidencing wider skills. This can range from building a rocket car to being an award winning member of a stage crew. Beacon Academy students, like the school itself, will have a Unique Selling point which makes them stand out from the crowd.
