Newbridge Upper School, an outstanding special needs school in the heart of Redbridge, is seeking an inspiring and visionary Assistant Principal to join our senior leadership team. We provide education for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, including those with complex needs such as sensory impairments, autism, and physical and medical challenges. We are looking for an exceptional leader who:
- Has a clear and ambitious vision for 21st-century SEND education, underpinned by a deep understanding of what makes a specialist school truly excellent.
- Possesses expert knowledge of curriculum design, teaching, learning, and assessment for pupils with complex learning difficulties and a wide range of disabilities.
- Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the lived experiences of children and families navigating life with learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Can inspire, motivate, and lead others to be aspirational for all pupils.
- Is an approachable and effective communicator with strong interpersonal and people management skills.
- Values collaboration and partnership working, both within the school and across the wider trust.

We are a three times outstanding split site special school academy catering for children and young people between the ages of two and nineteen years who have a complex learning difficulty, often accompanied by additional special educational needs, which may include;

We are part of the Astrum Multi Academy Trust with two school sites, which are within one mile of each other. Lower School is for pupils in Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and Upper School for students in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and 16-19.
Pupils transfer from Gresham Drive to Barley Lane Campus at the end of Key Stage 2 and are supported to do this through a well-planned transition programme.
