About the Role
EPIC Psychology & Wellbeing Service is a school led partnership established to meet the needs of local children, families and schools. Discovery Trust consists of 15 primary schools, 1 secondary school, 2 special schools for SEMH, 1 Communication & Interaction Hub and a number of alternative provisions. The Trust also has partnerships with other schools which EPIC also work with. EPIC works closely together with all stakeholders to develop a high-quality service that best supports the need of schools. We have relationships with two universities for undergraduate placements with us and a relationship with one university for placement of Trainee EPs.
Our service covers pre-school – Y13 both mainstream, community and specialist provision.
As a service we are fairly unique. We are school led, which means we have established our partnership by request and with support of local primary schools, and we are one of only a handful of cases in England with this structure. This makes us an exciting place to be working, and means we are a fast-paced organisation charged with new ideas and opportunities.
Our service provides high need support for children and families and also aims to develop an effective wellbeing provision to support families, safeguard children’s mental health and offer training for all people working with our children. We are a team of educational psychologists, assistant psychologists, undergraduate assistants and a full-time administrator. Our Service is constantly changing to meet local and national need and we are looking to become a multi-disciplinary team in the very near future.
We are currently seeking to appoint a part-time Assistant Psychologist, to join our energetic and vibrant team based at Mowmacre Hill Primary School site. You will be responsible as a team of assistant psychologists in helping deliver a psychological service to schools across the Trust, and their communities, wider county schools, and to undertake duties across the Educational Psychology Team in support of the Principal and Senior EPs. Year on year we introduce new training packages & research areas and look to increase our scope as a service, working as creatively as possible.
We are a fun, fast paced and energetic team. We would welcome applications from psychology graduates, with at least a 2:1, who possess Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (Registration) and who have shown a passion for applying psychology for the good of children and schools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyse evaluation data from case work and from school’s perceptions from the external evaluation
- Support the organisation of and contribution to some of our training to schools and workshops to parents
- Support the EPs by developing resource packs, useful tools for children as part of their interventions.
- Support the EPs by scoring different assessment tools, analysing evaluation data, creating surveys as appropriate.
- Take part in small training opportunities such as ELSA or one of the EPICnMIX workshops.
- Accompany EPs on school visits that do not involve individual children assessments or discussions.
- Take part in team meetings to listen to issues that impact on a Psychology Service
- Take part in small training opportunities such as ELSA or the Synergy workshops.
- Accompany EPs on school visits.
- Agree to all data protection and confidentiality protocols within the service.
- Engage in training groups to upskill yourself and be better equipped to deal with the role of EP in the future.
We will support our assistant with training, guidance and mentoring to make this a hugely rewarding role.
If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you!
