What skills and experience we're looking for

This is a full-time, on-site (located in Greater Southampton area) role for an Assistant Aspiring SENCO at The Learning Federation. The Assistant Aspiring SENCO will be an inspirational teacher looking to qualify as a full time SENCO. Working within The Partnership SEN Team, with part time teaching responsibilities, the rest of your week will be developing your SEN skills and supporting other colleagues across the Partnership. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, communicating with parents and teachers, attending Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, developing skills within legal EHCP frameworks and ensuring compliance with government regulations. This is in addition to Teachers pay and conditions.

What the school offers its staff

We are a Partnership of 6 schools aspiring to change the world for children aged from 3 months to 11 years. We are looking for an Assistant SENCO to join our SEN Team. You may be a teacher in your 3rd year, or you may have taught for some time. You would be welcome to apply as long as you have a determination and drive to work with us in an amazing family team to meet the diverse needs of our learners. Full training given and no experience expected, apart for a thirst for knowledge and a determination to make a difference!

We are looking for a candidate who fulfils the following:

  • BA QTS or equivalent
  • Inspirational teacher
  • Curious learner - interested in special education policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • A strong work ethic with excellent organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to think creatively and solve problems independently as well as collaboratively
  • Understanding of quality first teaching, learning strategies, and behaviour management techniques
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Commitment, intellect and resilience to undertake NPQSENCO qualification
