Assistant SENDCO job summary

Dedworth Middle School is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant SENDCO to join our team and help manage the provision for pupils identified as having SEND; promoting high-quality teaching, effective use of resources and high standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the SENDCO in leading the provision for SEN within the school.
  • Manage and efficiently use resources for Special Needs and Learning Support.
  • Develop curriculum resources to ensure adequate support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support the implementation of an inclusive curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities and provide feedback.
  • Develop and implement intervention groups and support.
  • Manage and maintain personalised plans, provision maps, and provision plans.
  • Prepare information for assessments, EHCPs, and referrals to other agencies.
  • Collate and analyse SEND statistical returns.
  • Support High Needs Funding Applications and track funding.
  • Attend pupil review meetings and prepare necessary paperwork.
  • Liaise with outside agencies to ensure effective SEN provision.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings and discussions for GDPR compliance.
  • Advise staff on areas to develop and support for pupils with SEN.
  • Use data to identify underachieving pupils and create action plans.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate teaching and learning methods.
  • Communicate with parents/carers about SEN provision for their child.
  • Deputise for the SENDCO in matters relating to SEN.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection, health, safety, and confidentiality policies.
