Assistant SENDCo (Part-Time) job summary
Thank you for your interest in working at George Mitchell School. We are looking to appoint an Assistant SENDCo to assist our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion (SENDCo) with the promotion of an inclusive approach to SEND across the school.
We are a small school with 4 form entry at secondary. The size of each year group means that staff get to know individual students and their families really well and form excellent relationships. The school has a ‘community’ feel built on a positive culture and good relationships between staff and student. Our most recent inspection Ofsted commented that ‘Pupils are polite and friendly; most behave well and have positive attitudes to learning.’
The school is extremely ambitious and continually improving in all aspects. Therefore, I am looking for exceptional people with energy and drive to join us in this work. You will notice our school ethos and PRIDE values, which embodies the standard of the school we aspire to be.
Successful candidate qualities:
- SENCO/Access Arrangement Assessor qualifications preferred, or the desire to acquire these.
- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
- Teaching qualification preferable but not essential, however teaching qualification is needed to achieve the National Award in SEND Coordination.
- Relevant and recent knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN
- Sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
