Sidegate Primary School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant SENDCo to support our inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with the SENDCo and teaching staff to identify, plan, and deliver support for children with additional needs, ensuring all pupils reach their full potential. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive, forward-thinking school community.

Contract: Fixed-term - 2 years, 0.5-0.8FTE 5 days a week

Salary: £16,458.00-£36,282.00 - Actual (0.5-0.8 FTE)

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Track progress for learners within SEND interventions, taking action where necessary

  • Help to maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map with the Assistant Principal for SEND and Assistant SENDCo Admin

  • Provide guidance to colleagues on supporting pupils with SEN or a disability, when appropriate both within the Foundation Learning Department and the wider school

Sidegate is a vibrant three-form entry primary school in the north of Ipswich. The school hosts a 25 place Specialist Education Unit for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, giving approximately 655 pupils on roll. The school boasts large grounds, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and good ICT provision. We pride ourselves in the broad and engaging curriculum we offer our pupils; sport and culture
feature highly and are used to enhance the curriculum in all areas. The school received a “Good” Ofsted rating in October 2022. We were the first primary school in Suffolk to be awarded the prestigious Platinum Artsmark in November 2019; we also hold quality marks in RE, Science and Sport.

Sidegate became an academy in May 2014 with The Active Learning Trust (ALT). ALT encourages each of their schools to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils in the school. They work closely with the school, providing specialist advisory support as necessary. We work closely with other schools in the ALT Ipswich Hub and the Northgate Pyramid of Schools.
