We are looking for an Assistant SENDCO to work as part of our thriving and inclusive SEND team supporting students across KS3- KS5 in our supportive, inclusive and well performing secondary school. Do you have experience working in a SEN support role (Teaching Assistant, SENDCO Assistant, or similar)? Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the desire and skills to help pupils achieve their full potential make a real difference to pupils’ lives?
St Mary's Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCO to join our committed SEND team. Working closely with our dedicated SENDCO and learning support team, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEND, ensuring they are fully included in school life and able to reach their potential.
In this role, you will work closely with the SENDCO, SLT, teaching and support staff to identify, assess and support pupils with SEND, including:
Supporting the implementation and review of EHCPs, support plans, and provision maps.
Delivering targeted interventions and personalised support to pupils experiencing barriers to learning.
Collaborating with teaching and support staff to promote inclusive practice and positive outcomes
Liaising with parents/carers and external agencies to coordinate support.
Helping to organise and deliver staff training in SEND strategies.
Maintaining accurate SEND records and support data analysis.
Assisting with smooth transition arrangements for pupils.
The ideal applicant will have proven experience of working with children or young people with SEND, and experience of liaising with parents/carers and external agencies. Experience of supporting the implementation of EHCPs and support plans is desirable.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
A good all round level of education.
The desire and ability to support pupils across the curriculum.
A relevant qualification in special educational needs or similar is desirable but not essential, but a commitment to further training as identified is required.
Good understanding of SEND legislation and statutory guidance, including the SEND Code of Practice.
The ability to identify barriers to learning and implement effective interventions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Skilled in using ICT, record keeping, data analysis, and monitoring progress.
Applicants should be flexible, with appropriate qualifications and/or experience, able to work on their own initiative and to exhibit supportive leadership skills in a busy team environment.
