Assistant Site Manager job summary

As Assistant Site Manager at Bishop Milner Catholic College, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for our students, staff, and visitors. Working closely with the Site Manager, you’ll help oversee the day-to-day operations of the school premises, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

This hands-on role involves a mix of practical maintenance tasks, health and safety checks, site security, and supporting contractors and cleaning teams. You’ll be proactive, reliable, and take pride in keeping our school running smoothly—whether it’s setting up for events, responding to urgent repairs, or helping create a space where learning can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Site Manager in the day-to-day running of the school premises and grounds

Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the site, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and basic electrical work

Ensure the school is clean, safe, and secure at all times, including opening and locking up the premises

Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and other building systems to ensure efficient operation

Support the management of contractors and service providers working on site

Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments, reporting any concerns promptly

Respond to emergency situations such as leaks, breakages, or security issues

Set up rooms and equipment for school events, meetings, and assemblies

Assist with deliveries and moving furniture when needed

Maintain records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and compliance checks

Promote and uphold the school’s values, safeguarding policies, and commitment to student welfare
