Assistant Site Manager job summary

Be the guardian of a great first impression. “What I love about being part of the site team here is the variety. One minute you’re ensuring the heating is running smoothly, the next you’re looking out over our fields and knowing that because of your work, hundreds of students have a safe, beautiful space to learn and play.”

Why This Role Matters

At Chipping Norton School, we believe every child should feel they belong. As our Assistant Site Manager, you are essential to making that happen. You aren't just maintaining buildings; you are creating the "wonderful environment" our students and staff rely on every day. From assisting with the management of our large school site and overseeing the security of the site, your work ensures that the high standards our community expects are always met.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone who takes pride in a job well done and enjoys being part of a team that "pulls together." You will:

  • Take Ownership: Assist the Site Manager in regular inspections, identifying repairs, and keeping our systems in top shape.

  • Be a Problem Solver: Lead on minor repairs and routine maintenance across our extensive outdoor spaces and buildings.

  • Show Technical Care: Take a lead role in managing the heating plant and coordinating with contractors.

  • Collaborate: Work seamlessly with our Site Manager and Caretaker to ensure the school is safe, secure, and welcoming, even during evening shifts or occasional weekend events.

  • Stay Alert: Use your eye for detail to ensure all health and safety compliance (like water and hygiene testing) is recorded accurately.

The Chipping Norton Difference

When you join us, you’re joining more than a school; you’re joining a supportive community where support staff are valued as true professionals.

  • A Collaborative Team: You’ll be part of a small, dedicated site team known for its friendly "vibe" and mutual support.

  • Outdoor Space: You will have the opportunity to work across our wonderful grounds and large school fields—a rare and beautiful working environment.

  • Professional Growth: As part of the River Learning Trust, we invest in your development, ensuring you have the training and "foundations" you need to excel and grow in your career.

RLT Connection & Benefits

Chipping Norton School is a proud member of the River Learning Trust (RLT). This means you benefit from:

  • Competitive pension scheme and life assurance.

  • Access to the RLT "Shared Growth" programme for professional development.

  • A commitment to the "Whole Person," supporting your wellbeing within and beyond the school gates.
