Assistant to SENCO (Inc HLTA duties) job summary

  • Hours of work: up to 37 hoursper week
  • Working pattern: Monday - Thursday, 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am - 3:30pm
  • Term weeks: 38 + 2 weeks school closure, minimum paid week 45.797

An exciting opportunity has become available internally with the intention of developing our capacity and future capability within our SEND provision. We are looking for applications from individual who are committed to developing their career within the SEND specialisms with a view to becoming a qualified SENDCO.

The role could be split into two distinct roles should a candidate be interested/ in only one.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess HLTA accredited status or QTS (or will be working towards)
  • Good understanding of child development and learning processes.
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation.
  • Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.
  • Worked with children of relevant age.
  • Experience of working in a classroom setting.
  • Experience of working with small groups of pupils to support their learning. Along with supporting evidence that this support has brought about improvements in achievement.
  • Experience of working alongside staff to plan, resource and deliver high quality strategy interventions.
  • Experience of whole class teaching, covering absence / PPA as required.
  • A thorough understanding of Maths and English frameworks.
