Assistant to the SENCO with SALT responsibility job summary

Term-Time + 2 Training Days. Part Time 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join the warm and vibrant team at Meadowfield Primary as an Assistant to the SENCO with SALT responsibility. Are you passionate about transforming lives through communication? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) Lead to champion communication development across our inclusive school.

In this exciting role, you’ll identify pupils with speech, language and communication needs, plan and deliver targeted interventions, and work alongside class teachers to embed effective strategies in the classroom. You’ll collaborate with families and external professionals to ensure every child gets the support they need to thrive. As Assistant to the SENCO you’ll also contribute to EHCPs, support the SENCO with SEND provision, lead staff training, and track the impact of your work—making a real difference every day.

About You

To be a good fit for this role, you will be:

• Highly knowledgeable in SEND, with experience in delivering inclusive practices and implementing EHCPs and targeted interventions.
• An excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with staff, families, and external agencies.
• Child-centred, focused on supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
• Detail-oriented and accountable, maintaining accurate records and consistently upholding safeguarding procedures.
• A supportive partner to the SENCO, contributing to strategic planning, staff deployment, and delivery of high-quality SEND provision.
