Assistant Vice Principal (SENCo) job summary

Longspee Secondary is a Specialist Provision for Autistic young people, some of whom may have associated SEMH needs. We offer a rich and high-quality learning experience for our students, with a relentless and positive focus upon Happy, Safe, Progress to help ensure that our students can build and achieve a successful adult life.

The key responsibilities of the role will be as a high-quality model of Teaching and Learning, alongside the Leadership of our Core Curriculum, and Quality of Education – in partnership with other Senior Leaders.

The successful candidate will be:

·         An outstanding classroom practitioner who can demonstrate outstanding outcomes for children with special education needs, either in specialist or mainstream settings.

·         An experienced middle or senior leader with a track record of making an impact on whole school outcomes.

·         An expert in the field of inclusion who demonstrates this when working with pupils both in the classroom and around the school.

·         A qualified SENCo.

·         An excellent communicator with a shared collaborative vision for our school.

·         A supportive line manager to colleagues, with expertise in delivering whole school training in key area.

·         A proactive thinker and dynamic problem solver, who can work independently and as part of the team.

·         Flexible, with a ‘can-do’ attitude towards the shared responsibilities of the Leadership Team.

·         Committed to continued professional development with an aspiration for ongoing excellence.
