Welcome to our school,

Broomfield SILC is a generic special school for pupils aged 2 to 19 years with 4 sites: our main site and 3 partnership sites at Windmill Primary, Rodillian Secondary and White Rose Post 16. The SILC is based in the South of Leeds and caters for a wide range of needs from moderate learning difficulties; severe learning difficulties; complex and multiple learning needs; Autism and social and emotional and mental health needs. Some students have additional needs – physical; medical; speech and language; visual, hearing or sensory impairment. We are a very popular choice for parents and carers and in September 2025 we will have 309 pupils on roll.

Broomfield secured a ‘Good’ Ofsted in March 2023 where inspectors commented that leaders have ‘high ambitions’ and ‘high aspirations for all pupils’ and that ‘staff are proud to work in our school’. I am very proud of our school community where staff are committed to supporting young people to fulfil their potential and prepare them fully for their future, particularly focusing on communication, independence, and emotional regulation.

We are seeking an Associate Assistant Principal to become an associate member of the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will strengthen our leadership capacity to further shape the strategic direction and drive the continued success of our school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our learners, driving excellence in teaching and learning and improving outcomes through curriculum development.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading on curriculum development throughout the school making use of educational research to inform decisions around providing meaningful learning experiences.
  • Leading and inspiring subject leads and teams across multiple sites to deliver outstanding teaching and learning. Supporting them to collaborate effectively and build their subject knowledge.
  • Driving school improvement initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of inclusive practice.
  • Supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring, and professional training.

What we’re looking for:

  • A skilled and ambitious leader who is ready for the next stage of their career.
  • A track record of improving learner outcomes through curriculum development.
  • A passion for inclusion, innovation, and ensuring every learner reaches their full potential.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to working collaboratively to drive continuous improvement.

Why join us?

  • A rewarding first step into senior leadership where you can make a real difference.
  • A supportive and forward-thinking team committed to high expectations and innovation.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • The chance to shape the future of a thriving, multi-site special school.

What we can offer:

A welcoming, caring school with supportive governors, colleagues, parents and external agencies.

A commitment to professional development.

A workplace that values the skillset and contributions of all staff members.
