Associate Assistant Principal job summary

Are you ready to step into senior leadership? This secondment to Associate Assistant Principal offers a transformative opportunity for a talented teacher to lead on a strategic project aligned with academy development priorities, gain hands-on leadership experience, and build the skills necessary for future leadership roles within the Three Spires Trust.

Purpose of the Role:
The Associate Assistant Principal (AAP) will design, deliver, and evaluate a high-impact project that supports student outcomes and academy priorities. The project title and success criteria will be proposed by the applicant and finalised with the Trust and Principal. Throughout the secondment, the AAP will experience a broad scope of senior leadership responsibilities while continuing a teaching commitment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a strategic project with measurable impact on academy improvement.

  • Communicate a clear vision, manage implementation, and report progress to governors.

  • Present project outcomes at the Trust’s annual summer conference.

  • Support the senior leadership team (SLT) in areas such as operational management, staff oversight, and strategic planning.

  • Participate in SLT meetings and leadership training events delivered by the Trust.

Professional Development:
The AAP will be mentored by a senior leader and actively contribute to the leadership of the academy. The role includes three high-quality leadership training events and opportunities to develop key leadership competencies.

  • Organisational Management: Support systems and processes that ensure safe and effective school operations.

  • Staff Development: Contribute to the professional development and performance of staff.

  • External Relations: Build strong relationships with stakeholders and the wider community.

  • Governance & Accountability: Work effectively with governance and support cross-academy collaboration.
