Associate Principal - Curriculum and Assessment

Following the promotion of the current postholder, we are seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated and ambitious leader with the highest personal and academic standards. This leader will have a drive, energy, a genuine love for the curriculum, teaching and learning and a passion for ensuring pupils fully achieve their potential. They will have an infectious passion for developing the best practices within the classroom and a strong track record of school improvement in this area.

You will work closely with the other members of our strong leadership team to help shape and deliver the strategic vision for the school, continuing to build upon the successes of Biggleswade Academy.

You should be a visible leader with a passion for curriculum development, teaching and learning, ambition for the pupils and the school, and have a proven track record of effective and successful leadership.

About the role:

You will need to be a highly skilled classroom practitioner, as all members of the Leadership Team are expected to model good practice and to contribute to our continuing work to develop learning. Our approach is collegiate, and we are all expected to model our school virtues.
You will be responsible for overseeing a combination of significant aspects within the Academy to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school whilst continuing the Academy’s journey to be exceptional.

You will be expected to support the Principal and Vice Principal in creating, developing and evaluating the aims of the school in partnership with pupils, staff, trustees and parents.
Lead on curriculum development, ensuring it provides the highest possible learning opportunities that our pupils deserve, whilst pursuing outstanding pupil progress and achievement.

Ensure a rigorous assessment structure, both formative and summative, which provides staff and pupils with timely and comprehensive feedback on learning, rapidly identifying and addressing gaps in learning.
Work closely with the Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning and Lead Practitioner team to maintain the drive for teaching and learning excellence.

To further embed the whole school teaching and learning approach through supporting staff development.

The ideal candidate could be an aspirant Associate Principal however, you must be an experienced leader and be able to demonstrate where you have made sustained, quantifiable impact at middle or senior level. Above all we are seeking someone who is proactive, can contribute fresh ideas, is collaborative, goal-orientated, confident, and who tackles challenges effectively.
