Whitefriars Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled Attendance and Behaviour Champion to join our outstanding team. This is a key role within our inclusion team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders, the inclusion team, staff, families, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and ensure that all pupils—particularly disadvantaged and vulnerable learners—are supported to achieve their full potential.
The Attendance and Behaviour Champion role is a key position within the school, working:
- Lead and support the school’s approach to attendance, behaviour, and attitudes to learning
- Support staff through guidance, training, and modelling to establish strong routines, model expected behaviour, and prevent low-level disruption by promoting inclusive and effective behaviour management strategies.
- Work sensitively with the Inclusion team, families, external professionals, and local partners to ensure coordinated support. to secure positive outcomes for pupils
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring safeguarding procedures are robust and effective.
- Develop and implement targeted interventions to improve attendance, behaviour, and engagement.
- Lead the implementation and embedding of Zones of Regulation (ZOR) across the school, ensuring consistent understanding and use by staff, pupils, and parents.
- Analyse and report on attendance and behaviour data to inform strategic decision-making.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working within a school or educational setting ideally supporting behaviour, attendance, and inclusion.
- Is committed to promoting high-quality support and intervention for pupils and families
- Is able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Understands child development and how adverse experiences can impact learning and behaviour
- Is professionally assertive, organised, and able to manage a demanding workload
- Can handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Is a strong team player who can also work independently and take initiative
- Is creative, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
- Can have challenging but supportive conversations with families
- The ability to remain calm, resilient, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
Working Hours
8.40am – 3.10pm Monday to Friday, term time plus a 1 week.
