Attendance Assistant job summary

Sandhurst School is a caring, inclusive and well-ordered community. Our aim is to provide all students with the opportunity to succeed, with a strong emphasis on achievement, encouragement and development of skills and qualities to be active, accomplished, knowledgeable, caring and self-sufficient in tomorrow’s ever-changing world.

Attendance Assistant

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, empathetic, and dedicated Attendance Assistant to join our friendly and supportive pastoral and administrative teams. This is a newly developed, part-time role designed to work directly alongside our Attendance Officer, with a specific focus on supporting disadvantaged students (including Pupil Premium and SEND cohorts) and those experiencing Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA).

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, alongside excellent attention to detail. You should be confident and comfortable liaising with parents, staff, and students - often in sensitive or challenging situations. A background in an educational, pastoral, or youth-work setting is highly advantageous, as is an understanding of the emotional barriers that impact student attendance

We are very proud of our students and our school, if you are interested in joining Sandhurst School and have the skills and qualities required for this post, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Training and support will be provided by the existing team of friendly and mutually supportive colleagues.

Grade/Salary Range:

Hours: 18.5 hours per week, term-time only (0.5 FTE)

Closing date: Monday 29th June 2025

Please note: applicants may be invited to interview before the closing date, therefore please take the opportunity to apply as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close the advert early should the right candidate apply.

Should you have any questions regarding this role, please email Miss Read, PA to Headteacher: cread@sandhurstschool.org.uk

  • “Pupils feel safe and are kept safe”

  • “Pupils are well looked after and are provided with the opportunity to succeed”

  • “Strong relationships exist between staff and pupils”
