Before and After School Club Leader (15 hours per week (Mon to Fri 3.00pm – 6.00pm) – 39 weeks) job summary

Specific Responsibilities
• To undertake the daily management of the Breakfast and After School Club, supervising staff, parents and volunteers, participate in their selection ensure appropriate induction and training to ensure that they are fully aware of their duties, maintain high standards of provision throughout the club, ensure the health, safety and welfare of the children and implement activities in line with relevant statutory guidance
• To carry out, together with the Finance Officer basic administration and financial procedures, ordering and purchasing in accordance with Club/Academy systems. To keep up to date records and ensure the Club complies with relevant new legislation procedures and requirements, including hygiene, heal and safeguarding regulations
• To maintain registers of attendance/absence and other pupil records
• To assist with the marketing of the Breakfast and After School Club, help create related promotional displays for the Club Provision within the school
• To monitor the number of places being used and how the resources (staff, premises, equipment) are utilised to ensure the Club is sustainable and runs in the most efficient and
effective manner
• To plan and develop appropriate activities to ensure relevant national standards and guidance are met at all times and to take a key role in suitably equipping the club in order to support the children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development giving consideration to ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• To follow the Trust’s Safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
• Ensure all Club attendee’s parent/carer contact details are kept up to date at all times
• Attend and participate in meetings with the Principal/Headteacher & Chief Financial Officer to ensure the smooth running of the Provision
• To co-ordinate and promote the building of strong links between the After-School Club and parents/carers regarding after school activities e.g., newsletters for parents
• Create a detailed, termly plan of Club Activities in a suitable format for uploading onto each Academy website across the Trust
• To liaise with staff as appropriate and attend open mornings/evenings to promote the Breakfast & After-School Club Provision
• Ensure appropriate staff ratios are maintained at all times, maintaining Club timetables/rotas of work for all staff and liaising with the Principal/Headteacher and Chief Financial Officer about any staff absences
• To maintain up-to-date records for pupils attending the Clubs including relevant medical details and current emergency contact details.
• Ensure all pupil’s medical information is appropriately communicated and all medicines and paperwork are stored securely
• Responsible for contacting parents/carers, in the event of any accidents/sickness or late collections
• Ensure any late collection procedures are followed and adhered to and that no pupil is left unattended at the end of Club session
• To ensure all necessary After-School Club policies exist, are up to date and are implemented on a daily basis, ensuring all legal and statutory requirements are implemented and relevant resources kept up to date, e.g., accident book and first aid kit
• To administer basic/paediatric first aid when required
• To report a child’s problems/achievements to parents (as necessary)
• To liaise with parents to enable effective operation of the Club
• Ensure appropriate equipment and resources are available and in good condition
• Maintain appropriate hygiene standards complying with Food Handling regulations

Generic Responsibilities:
• Help to create a welcoming and supportive environment for the pupils attending the Club
• Co-ordinate the support for pupils through planning, preparation and delivery of appropriate activities
• Distribute and collect surveys, questionnaires or evaluation papers with regards to the Provision across the Trust (as required)
• Be aware of the timetable of activities and identify the expected tasks required from each Club
• Co-ordinate and assist with the set up and clearing away of any equipment/activities after Club sessions have finished
• Be responsible for notifying the Caretaker and Breakfast & After School Club Assistants of any issues with regards to maintenance, cleanliness and H&S issues of specialist equipment and notify the individual Club Leader if any equipment needs to be decommissioned /
removed for repairs
• To provide positive and firm control by implementing the Academy’s discipline/behaviour policy. To deal with cases of unruly or unsocial behaviour by pupils where appropriate and report relevant incidents to the Headteacher
• Assist with the tidying of the venue after use and ensure the secure storage of resources and equipment used
• Support the aims and ethos of the school
• To be responsible for the preparation required for any inspections of the Club e.g. Ofsted, and action any recommendations that may result from an inspection
• Set a good example in terms of punctuality, behaviour and attendance
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, food hygiene, Health & Safety, security, administration and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
• Support the development of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities
• Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
• To support, promote and encourage Trust activities
• To encourage and foster active and constructive links with other agencies/professionals and members of the wider community
• Participate in training, other learning activities and performance development as required
• Acknowledge and foster the need for team working e.g., help new starters settle into the Academy
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
• Be aware of and support diversity and ensure equal opportunities for all
• Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
• Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
• The willingness and ability to be deployed in any School/Academy within the Trust as the need arises
• To uphold standards in public life
• To be aware of and adhere to and promote policies and procedures and ensure you are responsible for ensuring that you and other staff adhere to updates and amendments
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required; by the Academy Principal/Headteacher/COO to ensure the efficient and effective running of the ASC Provision
