Behaviour and Engagement Intervention Officer
Full time
Permanent
We are looking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic colleague to join our team of committed and dedicated professionals who will do whatever it takes to help our young people achieve great things - beyond expectations.
As part of the Behaviour and Engagement team you will be working to ensure we maintain a calm and orderly learning culture where students are well supported to meet high expectations and be brilliantly successful.
We are looking for an individual with the ability to build strong, supportive and effective relationships with pupils, staff and parents. Someone who can create a variety of strategies to support and mentor pupils to re-engage them with their learning. Initially working as part of a team to ensure day to day high standards of conduct and engagement this newly created role will develop into providing one-to-one and group work support which helps pupils develop excellent skills in self regulation and effective organisation - all contributing to ensuring individual engagement and building a successful and ambitious future.
We believe all adults are role models and this role will be no different. Whether helping to ensure students are in the right place at the right time, helping to resolve a difficulty, providing information and advice or supporting students to overcome barriers - this high profile, extremely rewarding role requires a calm, professional approach with high levels of emotional intelligence, energy and drive.
Through regular and meaningful contact you will forge profitable and trusting relationships that inspire confidence. Our new colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives. You will work hard to understand their individuality and help resolve barriers to their achievement - making a real difference to our students and our community. No two days will ever be the same - although they will always be rewarding and exciting.
Your previous experience in an educational setting is less important to us than your experience of working with young people and your ability to understand their perceptions and individuality. We are keen to hear from interested colleagues from a variety of relevant backgrounds. Because you have a calm, personable and patient manner and because you are consistent, persistent and interested in them you will know why that is. Above all our new colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives. You will have access to on-going development opportunities and the support of a forward thinking, successful multi-academy trust.
You will be joining a team of strong and experienced staff who will do whatever it takes to help you to succeed in your new and exciting role.
As well as having a passion for young people and their futures our colleague will:
be an approachable warm professional with the ability to foster excellent relationships
be resilient and determined with excellent attention to detail
have a high level of emotional intelligence wand the ability to understand people and their own contexts
bring an unwavering commitment to doing whatever it takes
have the ability to engage and inspire others
be a resourceful problem solver
To be tenacious and well organised with good time management
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ambitious team of staff and make a real impact on our students' lives. Informal discussions and/or visits to the school are actively encouraged.
To arrange a visit or discuss the post, please contact Victoria Edwards, HR Adviser on 020 8304 8531 or email victoria.edwards@wellingschool-tkat.org.
We reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive a significant number of applications. If you have not had any communication within 10 days of the closing date please take this as confirmation that on this occasion your application has not been successful.

Education can transform people’s lives and at Welling School I am absolutely determined that the students who attend our school will be given the very best opportunities to excel. Our new vision is to educate outward-looking learners who will thrive in their own lives and contribute to making the world a better place.
This means that we firmly believe that the purpose of education is twofold. We want all our learners to achieve academic success and have access to a varied co-curricular syllabus in order for them to complete their educational journey. Students can only achieve this if they feel happy and are provided with a caring environment in which the talents of different individuals are respected and encouraged to flourish. Our educational philosophy is focused around the values we want all our students to acquire before taking their place in the adult world. This is why we strive for:
Students who are ambitious
Students who are kind
Students who are active
In summary, an education is so much more than just good examination results. We aim to support and inspire all our learners, irrespective of ability, to be the best they can be in every single way. Learners at Welling School also benefit from outstanding facilities. In 2005 the school was rebuilt and the school continues to make improvements. This summer the practical food rooms were renovated. Our other excellent facilities include: specialist classrooms; sports hall; all-weather sports pitch; dance studio, drama studios, Apple Mac computer rooms, recording studio, art gallery, library and a designated 6th Form Centre.
