Behaviour Inclusion Assistant (Internal Exclusion) job summary
The post holder will be responsible for behaviour, welfare and learning while pupils are in attendance of the academies internal exclusion rooms. They will work actively with pupils to re-establish expected conduct, re-engage them with learning and prepare them for a successful return back to their classes.
Main tasks (Please refer to the attached job description for a comprehensive list)
- Supervising students: Providing a calm and focused environment for students during their internal exclusion, encouraging them to complete work, and addressing any behavioural concerns.
- Liaising with teachers: Obtaining necessary resources and information about the student's work to ensure they are kept engaged.
- Maintaining the isolation room: Ensuring the room is clean, well-organized, and conducive to learning.
- Documentation: Logging behaviour incidents, preparing reports, and tracking student progress.
- Contributing to strategies: Helping to develop and improve the school's internal exclusion procedures.
Essential Skills:
- Experience with Young People: Experience working with young people, particularly those with emotional or behavioural needs, is crucial.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, both written and verbal, is essential for effective interaction with students, staff, and parents.
- Child Protection: A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
- Commitment to Inclusion: A firm belief in inclusive education and equal opportunities is vital.
- Independent Work and Teamwork: The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others is key.
- Knowledge of School Policies: The ability to learn and adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and regulations is expected.
- Behavioural Management: The ability to learn and implement behavioural management techniques and strategies
