Behaviour & Inclusion Mentor job summary

Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT) opened our newly built, state-of-the-art facility - Rivertree Free School, in February 2025. Rivertree joined the other schools in our trust providing education to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. Our Academies, supported by the Trust, provide an environment which is welcoming, nurturing, calm, safe and purposeful. BILTT’s vision is to continue to develop a high performing SEND Multi Academy Trust that delivers the very best educational experiences for pupils regardless of their starting points.

As the school grows, we are looking to recruit a Behaviour & Inclusion Mentor to provide specialist support that enables pupils with complex learning, sensory, communication, and social-emotional needs to engage successfully in school life. The role focuses on building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and helping them develop the skills needed for emotional regulation, communication, independence, and positive behaviour.

Hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only + training/CPD days.

We are looking for people who are passionate about working with children with special educational needs and can work as part of a team, sharing knowledge and best practice to improve pupil outcomes.

Successful applicants will provide high-quality support to Rivertree pupils with autism, profound, medical and severe learning difficulties who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Completion of Secondary School to CSE/GCSE standard is essential along with Accredited qualifications in English and Maths e.g. GCSE English and maths grade A* - C, grade 4 - 9 or equivalent & previous experience of working with children and/or young people.

If you feel you have the experience and personal qualities we are looking for and would like to be part of helping us to provide outstanding, specialist education by joining our wonderful team already working at our fabulous new school, then we would welcome an application from you via mynewterm.

Should you have any questions regarding the role or wish to discuss it further, please email rfs.hr@biltt.org

Closing date for applications: 9am 4th February 2026
